|  Directions | Mix salt, garlic salt, and black pepper with the flour. Be liberal with the seasonings. Put the seasoned flour on a baking sheet that has sides. Soak the steaks in milk. Then dredge them in flour on the baking sheet. Then dip them again in the milk and then back into the flour.
Put a cast-iron skillet on the stove and add oil or shortening (add lots of oil). Fry the steaks until brown on both sides.
Remove from pan and put on plate.
For the gravy: mix some of the remaining seasoned flour with the oil the skillet, and brown it. Add a quart of liquid (2 cups milk, 2 cups water, watch out for grease spatters, and stir vigorously over high heat until the gravy thickens.
